Need a little bit of guidance

Hello everyone, I am new here and would like to ask something that is bugging me for a whole life...really...
I hope this is the correct sub forum if not, please move it in the correct one.

I would like to tell a bit of a back story for easier understanding and its going to be longer post, so please stick with me.

So I am a 25 years old boy and I love in Slovenia. I spent most of my life on computer and I have learnt many different things. I can build a website, do a little bit of graphic design, setup hosting, learnt about trading (forex, stocks, etc..) and many other things. I have also been trying to earn money on my computer all that time but pretty much havent came anywhere in my whole life.

I have always wanted much more then just a regular "job life" if I can call it that way. I do have a day job but here is much different than other countries, I earn minimal wage and its enough to get through month and save like 100 EUR or so each month. Even people with really good education, job position and what not cant earn much more here, they can probably save 400-500 EUR more then I do per month. To many people here this is a big deal but to me it seems nothing. Seeing what people earn and work with I am motivated to go far beyond that, I dont want to be stuck like this. I have always wanted a business that I can work on but never managed to get anything done. Now as I am approaching my 26th birthday I am getting really scared of not getting anywhere in my life. I have done nothing, I feel like I am nothing at this point and that I am just wasting my life and its really hard feeling.

I spend my days watching youtube videos, browsing internet for "business ideas" and playing some video games (beside job of course). And for the same reason I mentioned before I dont want to start a local business because its just not enough opportunity to grab. I have always been thinking of online businesses or at least something that is not focused just to local customers because then the whole world can be your customers.

So I am writing this post to get some guidance from people who are already in the position that I am trying to achieve. I get lost when I start thinking of what kind of business to start and I stop as soon as I get confused and go back to watching videos.

I have built an ecommerce store with my own design I made in photoshop and offered a few different products, the website is set up and everything but then I got lost...how do I get people on my website and to buy my products...and basically I stopped working on it all together again.

So I have a couple of ideas currently again on my mind and every time I get to a point where I say no way this could work -.-

1. Start my own brand - make an awesome "premium" design and sell mobile cases, bracelets, etc...

2. eCommerce store - I have one currently online but I cant get anyone on my website dont even know how to. I have done few tweets, but with 10 followers we all know how it goes.

I have a couple more ideas but they all come down to not being able to do anything.

After my day job I have a lot of free time that I would like to use to become productive and do something in my life because Im feeling so down right now going to my 26th and still being nothing. I would like to work on something I just dont know how and what...

So first I would like to thank you for reading through my story and thank you for any coments and suggestions.

    Hi JK,

Good deal. Seems like you have some direction. This is your starting point.

Research Warrior and use Google to get as much information as possible to get going then as noted; execute on those 2 numbered ideas you shared. Sounds like your passions there, to me at least. Your passion is where your success is, but you'll execute now and dive into the fear-doubts-worries we all suffer from as new entrepreneurs.

So you have discovered as so many others that putting up an online store does not bring you anything on its own.

There are two elements to making money, in any field and any era: Traffic and Conversion.

These stores are Conversion tools only. Without Traffic, they are useless.

So you need at least one traffic source.

When people get to your site, what should they do?

If they're confronted by a bunch of pictures and poor, short descriptions, what will they do?

    Leave.

You need to learn the concept of Landing Pages.

Your site needs landing pages, designed to match to the interests of the traffic going there. Each page needs to feature ONE product, a product the visitor is likely to appreciate and want.

I have reviewed many ecommerce sites on behalf of clients (who offer promotional tools like contests) and for the most part I have seen awful stores slapped together by people who thought a bunch of disconnected stuff would be good. No! A little gadgetry, a barbecue, a few knives and a book or two do not a store make. Choosing items based on the personal likes of the store owner is a terrible idea.

The items need to have a CONNECTION. There needs to be a THEME. The store needs to build around a major, high ticket item. Landing pages have offers for a single lower ticket product related to that high ticket item. A Free+Shipping offer has been proven to work best. Then an immediate upsell offer. The buyer is added to the store's email list so the seller can continue to market to them (compare with the total lack of plan most store creators have--they throw some crap up and hope people stumble along and buy. Riiight.)

I've written (probably more clearly, as I have a cold atm) more here and here.

First I would like to thank everyone for taking their time to check my thread

I only sell merch items on my website (t shirts, mugs, phone cases) for crypto niche which is very popular right now. I dont have any traffic and that is my problem. I have tweeted few times on twitter but wtih 10 followers you cant really do anything.

I dont have any landig pages or email software because I cant afford any right now, neither paid advertising.

I always get stuck at this part. I can build a store, a website or anything but I cant get people to visit it.

The site is built.. and now you need traffic... you have 10 followers.. HOW can you change that? Spend your time on youtube learning just that.. how to develop your twitter base.

Look I am selling this this and this, isnt going to do it for you.. you need to learn how to interact and engage. This is how you get followers. from that point you can drop in Hey I sell this.. but then go right back into Interact and engage. you might want to look up Gary Vaynerchuk. He discusses these principles.

        Best of luck

There are multiple ways to get free traffic to your website. I suggest you make an Instagram page and start building followers. Use the items you are selling on your website as Instagram posts.

The main thing with Instagram is hashtags. Take the time to do so some research on the best cryptocurrency hashtags and use them in your Instagram posts. It is the best way to receive organic traffic to your website and best of all, it is free. I have used this method in the past to build a following for my company. It worked for me and it still does.

If you are planning to do paid advertising in the future, stay off of Google Adwords and Facebook Ads. They are starting to ban accounts that promotes anything related to cryptocurrency.

I would also suggest using cryptocurrency as a payment method. More than likely, the people who are interested in those products are going to have some type of cryptocurrency.

    Hi,

First of all I would suggest that you do not let yourself get discouraged. You are young, intelligent and have some technical computer skills so you can make this work.

When I first read your story I did get the impression that you need a bit of attitude adjustment - in other words a more positive out look. The Mind Warrior section of this forum may help you, perhaps learning about the Law of Attraction could assist with developing a more positive and productive attitude.

The other thing is it sounds like you are letting yourself get pulled in many directions. This is often known as the shiny object syndrome. Youtube can help you learn a lot of things but it can also show you far too many things and create much confusion, so look out for that.

This forum has avery good search feature which can be very helpful. You said you already have an ecommerce site but you need to drive traffic to it. One first simple step would be to research steps for free traffic, find a method you feel comfortable with and focus on that.
Do NOT get discouraged, you WILL do well. Just decide on a direction and stay focused on it.

  • As mentioned above, there is plenty of information on how to drive traffic to your website.

If should be working on trying to collect email from visitors, therefor if you don't convert the first time you can follow up with them.

After driving traffic for a little bit and you find out what your conversion rate is, it all becomes a numbers game.

I would do some research on whether your products are items people are looking to buy. If you haven't developed a brand it may be hard to sell brand items.

  • Take massive action and keep going until you make your first sales online. It's the best feeling ever.

Getting started is usually the hardest part. Focus on one avenue to make money online and persue it until you making a sustainable income online.

Set financial goals in your internet business with deadlines and achieve them before your deadlines.

Find a way to generate buyer traffic to your website. There is no point in spending money on advertising your website to a cold crowd. Only market to people who are looking for your offers. They convert easier, which equates to more sales for you.

Having the idea and wanting to elevate your way of life is a start. And with all these knowledge you gained, you are clearly ahead of your time, so congratulations on that. Sometimes, even though we have great ideas that you know could be helpful and you know that would sell, often times it just doesn't. One reason for that is audience reach and marketing. Try again this time and consider different marketing strategies. Influencer marketing for example, if someone with a higher reach does you a shout out then it is sure to reach more audience. Social media engagement groups can also help. You can check Niel Patel's youtube channel to learn more about traffic.

First of all, you need a solid strategy in order to market your products.
You also need an advertising platform, I suggest using Facebook ads as they're the most powerful and affordable platform. Although it might get a bit more expensive after the newsfeed algorithm update but let's hope that it doesn't become less powerful.
The most important thing of all is to give actual value and portray the benefits of your products everywhere. Message me at anytime and we can have a proper conversation

Identify your strengths and use them to your advantage. From what I see,you have multiple skill-sets which are big assets .You need to focus on 1 area instead of multitasking chasing your tail

I used to have the same problem. Gettin traffic to an ecommerce store is a pain in the a**.

I reckon you could start with guest blogs in the niche of your choice, use social media - Facebook, Pinterest etc if you have pictures of products. You gotta keep doing this for a while before you see any results. Anyone who promises to 'drive' traffic to your site and get thousands of visitors is a sham and very likely bot traffi and a waste of time and money. Stick to organic traffic, it will only grow in time.

    Good luck!
