High Ticket Prospecting Method That Works (Step by Step)

Hey,

A little while ago I sat down to try this "new" prospecting method. Once I implemented it, I had two clients paying me $5000 each per month for a service I was offering.

Here's what I did.

The "new" prospecting method is... cold callnig.

I know. You've heard about it. Nothing new, right? But have you tried it and made it work for yourself?

(I do a LOT of prospecting in my business. Most of it hands off. Prospecting is definitely not the easiest, but it WORKS.)

Cold calling is an incredible and extremely inexpensive way to prospect easily. You only need two things, and even those you only need if you want to speed things up a bit.

So here's the breakdown.

1. Buy a calling list.

I use sales data pro. They have very accurate B2B lists with good, real phone numbers. Great company.

2. Get a dialer.

I use Xencall. Again, a fantastic service, easy to use and will work on any operating system.

3. Load up your list into your Xencall.

This is a little involved because you have to have the data properly formatted but it's not hard, and Xencall customer support is fantastic. Give them a ring if you get in trouble.

4. Get a book to read while you cold call.

Cold calling is a numbers game and if you just sit there waiting for that beep in your headset you'll get really bored really quickly. Grab a book, or a game on your phone that you can read while you do calls.

Cold calling is a bit repetitive because you same then same thing over and over and a little distraction goes a long way.

Reason for cold calling.

The reason for cold calling is to talk to people that might be interested to sit down with you on zoom for about 45 minutes so that you can sell them. In my business we use cold calling as a strictly appointment setting process.

If you do this for long enough you WILL get clients (assuming you know a little bit about how to sell, but that's a different post for another day...)

Hope this helps.

Sebastian

    Hi Sebastian,

Thank you for sharing your process.

I'm a salesman of 30+ years but I'm always hungry to learn from anybody - we never master sales, we only build our toolset, reinforce our mindset and continually perfect our skillset, which helps us create more assets!

So I'm most interested in your cold call script - what did you say to them?

I'd love to see the full script, beginning to end - any objections to sharing that Sebastian?

    Thank you in advance,

    Paul

I was kind of hoping we would get the script that sells a $5,000 service. Pretty please?

      That makes three of us,

Maybe we can get Sebastian to agree with something they do on social media... "If 10 people comment, I will share my script"

You know you gotta pay for information like that...

$9. At least $9: dollar's been losing buying power, haven't you noticed?
Plus, where's your marketing acumen? It must say $49 with a big red x through it, then
"if you buy in the next 5 hours, it's just $9",
below that, you need a timer that starts counting down the seconds as soon as the page loads...

        You gotta create urgency, man!

I am more interested in the service than the script.

@Sebastian, you can hire somebody to make those cold calls.

While I appreciate that you told us a list source and a dialing source...

The important information is what you say to a cold list that gets them to buy a $5,000 a month service.

If you say "Step by step method", and leave out the one important step.....I don't see how that's much use. Please give us the script or a link to where we can get/buy it.

I agree. I am also curious about the retention rate.
How many months do these prospects stay signed up?

    Sabastian; I want to apologize.

My last two posts assumed you sold your service on the cold call. I re-read your post, and saw that this was an appointment setting call.

Much easier. But the script to get the appointment would help some readers.

Hey, sorry, I dont use a script. I have a general frame follow for the call, but not a script.

For the cold call, I like to start off by saying that my call is a cold call and asking them if they'd like to hang up or let me talk for 30 seconds.

It disarms them a bit. I borrowed it from Ben Dennehy. Then try to identify the problem, etc. The usual.

Thanks for the Dennehy reference. I watched several of his videos and see his approach is essentially the Sandler System approach.

      Good workable sales training.

          Thank you for the compliment.

Follow? I think Jordan Belfort, Ari Galper, David Sandler have real value to offer.

Ari Galper and David Sandler seem to be very similar....very personable trainers who sell like it's a conversation.

Different trainers appeal to different personalities. Some sales trainers teach relationship building, others tend to go for the jugular.

Pure technique? I don't think you can get better than Belfort. His knowledge of selling is deep. But his story tends to turn people off.

I actually listen to a few salespeople, the very top in their industry, trying to train or speak to groups in their own industry. Most of what I've learned I got from working with top salespeople in different industries. I mean actually working with them in the field.

I like Jordan Belfort too, actually. Just a little too direct for me personally, but I used to listen to the straight line for a month straight on repeat

It's really good. Never took any of the sandler training except for a few vids on youtube but I want to! Just a bit too much to do.

I think you should come up with some kind of a comprehensive training program yourself. I'd be stoked to have a look!

Just wanted to barge in and say - that is a killer (honest) and great way to start the call.

And very, very rare will the prospects ever hang up.

P.S. Knowing that Dennehy openly says none of his stuff is "new" - I never realised it originated from Sandler - thanks Claude for pointing it out.

I ordered three different Sandler programs after seeing this video. It's the single best cold calling I've ever seen. Better than anything I've ever done. How the hell did I sell for 40 years and never see this?

If you sell anything to business owners or CEOs...this is for you.

Added later; I haven't yet seen their whole program. My experience is that most times, one facet of the training is so outstanding, it carries the rest of the program. No idea how well the Sandler stuff handles qualifying, list selection, referrals, fact finding, offer selection, price conditioning, value building, answering sales objections....that sort of thing. But I'm eager to find out. What I knew about the Sandler approach was from the book You Can't Teach A Kid To Ride A Bicycle At A Seminar.

Steve; Seen it, as I've seen just about all their videos over the last week or so.

May I make a suggestion? The Sandler courses can all be bought much cheaper on E-bay. Some are a few years old, but it's the same stuff. And they are new.

Claude, you prove "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" is a lie!

I'm semi-retired on my 5 acres of land.
and here I am watching/listening to every video
interview and training put out by Chris Voss and his son, Brando
as well as team members of the Black Swan..

I've used their accusation audit to diffuse a personal volitile situation
and discovered why the person acted that way.

She completely opened up to me why she acted like that which was an almighty WOW.
I was late for meeting up with her which triggered memories of her mother walking out
on her as a young girl.

Once you have an experience like that you become a true believer of their training.

I'll drop a link below of a video interview with a top real estate agent.

By using the Accusation Audit and testing for proof of life in early stages of a deal,
she has been able to make the same amount of money and
working 80% less while having fun.

No more work on weekends, no more late night calls.

One example she gave was she met up with a developer on site
and immediately said "I've got 10 reasons why you
wouldn't want to work with me."

After a slight pause she said that was a joke and there are actually
four reasons then laid them out.
The last one was her fee.

        She got the contract.

The hardest part is doing the opposite
of what has been ingrained into their training
        and what seems logical.

I trained a Philippine virtual assistant to
see if there really is a deal to be made with property owners.

She is a gentle soft spoken woman
        but fearless.

She would flush out key information, such as the motivation for selling,
what needs to happen for a deal to happen or not.

She does it by complementing them on their property and ask in a very curious tone,
Why would you ever want to sell because of all the attributes she would lay out.

        Unfiltered truth flows out.

You don't need to have highly experienced, highly paid people
        working the Black Swan methods.
        She's $7 an hour..

That's what they at the Black Swan call getting to
proof of life and early on..
Another words is there a deal to be had here or not.

Not getting the deal isn't the worst thing,
taking a long time to not get the deal is.

        Best,
        Ewen

and here I am watching/listening to every video
interview and training put out by Chris Voss and his son, Brando
as well as team members of the Black Swan..

Reading it the way you are describing it, that sounds just like pre-qualifying to me.
Not just finding out if they have the funds, but all the bullets for the close.

That's what I always taught my sales crews.

She qualifies and sets up their expectations as to how things are going to work if they hire her. Saves time.

  • Not being a maths aficionado...

But there might an algorithm that says - be 1% better.

Add this to all your knowledge to date.

And you'll earn 57.9% more or be able to work 59.7% less.

    Or both.

On a more practical and maybe realistic side -

When you discover just one absolute gem of a technique (either by good chance - or after buying a library of books and courses - bit like panning for gold).

It really can supercharge your income, save you shedfulls of time - all with so much less grief and hassle.

And you can add all the "gems" to your Sales Training Course - imagine how impressive that'll be.

    Guys;

    Damnit, damnit, damnit.

I just finished reading Prospect the Sandler Way: A 30-Day Program for Mastering Stress-Free Lead Development.

Sure, I watched the video, but I like reading books. It's only a couple of dollars for a used copy on Amazon.

Soooooo.....I already knew some of it. And already was doing some of it. But the authors (who are not Sandler) gave such a brilliant take on how to cold call...I'm going to have to make a few cold calls, so I can steal what I learned and include it in my own materials.

This is truly a game changer if you want to cold call business owners.

I wish I had this 40 years ago. But to be honest, I don't think I would have understood what I was learning, and how insightful it is...until I went through decades of selling.

This sounds like too much work. I prefer to run paid ads to my target market or position yourself on Google using SEO where people are searching for your service.
